Chase Jackson

Sports Career of Chase Jackson | Chase Jackson Biography

Chase Jackson (neé Chase Ealey) has been one of the most successful shot putters in the world over the past five years, winning two world titles in that time.

Jackson’s first international experience came at the Pan American Junior Championships in Colombia in 2013, where she finished third with a throw of 14.88 meters. Her personal best going into the competition was 16.01 meters, set at the Waco Big 12 Championships earlier that season while competing with Oklahoma State University.

Her next personal best came at the beginning of 2015 when she threw 16.19 meters at the Lincoln Holiday Inn Invitational and then threw 16.71 meters a week later at the Manhattan Deloss Dodds Triple Dual meet.

She threw a big personal best at the end of the 2015 season, tossing 17.39 meters at the Ames Big 12 Championships to finish third.

Jackson’s breakout season came in 2016. At the NCAA Division I Championships in Eugene, Jackson threw 17.99 meters to finish second. She followed this up with another large personal best at the Olympic Trials, throwing 18.46 meters and finishing seventh.

2019 and Rise to International Success

Jackson had to wait until 2019 to set another personal best. It came at the Don Kirby Collegiate-Elite with a throw of 18.84 meters in February. The next month, she improved this by seven centimeters in Auckland, New Zealand.

Jackson set another personal best back in the United States in April, throwing 19.67 meters.

Her recent flurry of strong performances earned her a spot on the Diamond League circuit for the first time. She won her first Diamond League meeting, throwing 19.58 meters in Shanghai. She later broke her personal best by one centimeter at the Zurich meeting to finish second. At her first World Championships, she finished fifth with a throw of 18.82 meters.

Like most athletes, Jackson was limited in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she would return strong in 2021 and consistently finish in the top five at Diamond League meetings. She finished fifth at the Olympic Trials, narrowly missing qualifying for the American team.

Jackson Becomes World Champion

Jackson competed almost exclusively in Europe in 2022, leading into the World Championships. She broke the 20-meter barrier for the first time in March with 20.21 meters at the World Indoor Championships, finishing second.

She then went on to throw over the 20-meter barrier seven more times throughout the season, achieving a personal best of 20.51 at the USA Olympic trials. Her throw of 20.49 meters at the World Championships in Eugene was enough to capture her first World Championship title.

Jackson consistently threw over 20 meters or close to it in 2023 as well. At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, her throw of 20.43 meters would allow her to defend her title over Canada’s Sarah Mitton, who would also throw over 20 meters.

Jackson ended her season by throwing 20.76 meters at the Prefontaine Classic, winning the Diamond League final and setting a new personal best and American record.

Chase Jackson Olympics and Beyond

Jackson won the 2024 USA Olympic Trials and went into the Olympics as one of the favorites. However, she would only throw 17.60 meters in qualifying and not advance to the final. Her early departure opened the field for Germany’s Yemisi Ogunleye to capture gold.

Jackson broke the American record again on June 28, 2025, with a throw of 20.95 meters. She followed this up with 20.94 meters at the Prefontaine Classic, winning the event over Canada’s Sarah Mitton and fellow American Jaida Ross.

Chase Jackson Personal Life and Other Facts | Chase Jackson Shot Put

In 2012, Jackson ran 12.29 seconds in the 100-meter, the only time she has competed in a non-throwing event that appears on her World Athletics profile. She also ran the event regularly in high school, consistently running under 13 seconds.

Chase Jackson’s husband is Mitchell Jackson. She went by Chase Ealey until she got married in 2024. She’s currently sponsored by Nike.

Jackson currently ranks 36th on the all-time shot put list. Almost all the women above her set their best in the 1970s to early 1990s. Only three women have thrown farther since the year 2000.
